Included in Experience

Whether you aspire to become a hobby beekeeper, or just looking to experience something new, our private lesson is a great way to deliver a meaningful experience. Enjoy this personalized experience as we take you through the world of beekeeping in Ontario. We’ll touch on honeybee biology, bee jobs & lifecycle, beekeeping tools & beehive equipment, and best beekeeping practices.

What You Will Do

We will complete a full hive inspection and at the end of the session, you will have the foundation to responsibly handle all tools and equipment, locate the queen, eggs, larva, honey & pollen, and handle a frame of bees.

After the yard session, you’ll have the opportunity to taste the Hunnabees honey collection, which features 6 natural and 6 infused honey varieties, as well as 4 creamed honey options. This guided honey tasting tour is an ode to the bees for the hard work they put in throughout the season.

Hunnabees Honey & Co.

It is our mission at Hunnabees Honey & Co. to promote environmental enterprise, progression and education.

We are third generation beekeepers who first began our adventures beekeeping on Scugog Island in Port Perry, and recently expanded our business to our new farm in Millbrook, Ontario. We aim to reduce the impact of our farm and honey production through ongoing innovation on our farm.

We foster crops which are pollinator friendly, including goldenrod, wildflower and clover. Our farm also features a fresh vegetable garden, acres of flowers (in the works) and some of our best friends, the goats.

As beekeepers, we are committed to education and aim to provide resources for the local community in understanding the role bees play in the greater ecosystem. We have teamed up with local farmers & land owners and added 5 new bee yards within Millbrook in the 2017-2018 season, with a new yard in the North Kawartha Lakes region in 2019.

In the 2020 season we are excited to further our partnership with the Junior Beekeeper program and expand more educational opportunities to the youth in our region. We are excited to formally open the farm to the public and grow our seminar/workshop programmes while also expanding our colonies. 2020 will see our first community wildflower planting event based on our 2018 seasons sales.

Check back for updates as we expand this lovely business.

We look forward to growing with you.

- Dave & Keri
