During the 6 hours, you will forge your own handcrafted axe using not much more than a hammer. All materials needed will be provided on site and you get to take your custom axe home with you!

What You Will Do

The experience begins as soon as you enter the forge. After an initial orientation, students will be provided a piece of metal and learn step-by-step how to heat, hammer and craft their own axe. Learn how to heat carbon steel in a forge and shape it into an axe with an anvil and various hammers. We will walk you through the heat-treating process, and help with grinding, and final sharpening. Solid wood handles will be fitted to your custom axe before you take it home!Inspired by a love of the Canadian wilderness, the blacksmiths at Axcadmy lead you through an experience of building an axe with your hands, directly from the raw materials.

Age Requirements
Participants must be 18+ and will be required to sign a liability waiver before the workshop begins.

Additional Information
Participants will be provided with safety glasses and gloves. We recommend you wear a cotton long sleeve shirt, long pants, and steel toed shoes throughout the duration of the workshop.

What You Will Do
Learn the foundations of watercolour painting, including colour theory, basic brush strokes and how to paint loose leaves and roses. No prior painting experience is required! Signature painting techniques are based on Peak Paper Co.'s heirloom-quality artworks such as wedding invitations, vintage maps, custom stationary and hand-painted gifts.

Who Will Guide You
Brittany, owner and artist of Peak Paper Co., is a calligrapher/painter based in Edmonton, Alberta. She hosts intimate workshops for watercolour and calligraphy. Since 2020 she has produced regular classes for global luxury brand Montblanc focused on The Art of Writing.
