Why this makes a great gift

Hive sponsorship is a wonderful way to give back to our pollinators without the direct responsibility of maintaining a beehive on your own. This is ideal for those wanting to learn about the problems our beloved pollinators are facing, and most importantly - those wanting to spread knowledge and awareness. Through provided resources, the farm/bee experience, and the sweet goodies (HONEY), guests will have a hard time choosing their favorite aspect of this program.

What You Will Do

Have you ever wanted to impact the increasing problems our native habitats face? Our hive sponsorship provides an opportunity for individuals to help support our pollinators and their habitats in a new way. By sponsoring a hive, you and your gift giver are helping a beekeeper provide the highest level of care for our pollinators.

Through sustainable beekeeping practices and dedication to hive health, we aim to provide education and raise awareness on these important topics. In exchange for sponsoring a beehive, you get to take home your own unique, small batch honey, we’ll provide you with monthly updates on your colony, and you can design & visit your hive. Most importantly, we hope to cultivate a unique relationship and connection with each of our sponsors.

Hunnabees Honey & Co.

It is our mission at Hunnabees Honey & Co. to promote environmental enterprise, progression and education.

We are third generation beekeepers who first began our adventures beekeeping on Scugog Island in Port Perry, and recently expanded our business to our new farm in Millbrook, Ontario. We aim to reduce the impact of our farm and honey production through ongoing innovation on our farm.

We foster crops which are pollinator friendly, including goldenrod, wildflower and clover. Our farm also features a fresh vegetable garden, acres of flowers (in the works) and some of our best friends, the goats.

As beekeepers, we are committed to education and aim to provide resources for the local community in understanding the role bees play in the greater ecosystem. We have teamed up with local farmers & land owners and added 5 new bee yards within Millbrook in the 2017-2018 season, with a new yard in the North Kawartha Lakes region in 2019.

In the 2020 season we are excited to further our partnership with the Junior Beekeeper program and expand more educational opportunities to the youth in our region. We are excited to formally open the farm to the public and grow our seminar/workshop programmes while also expanding our colonies. 2020 will see our first community wildflower planting event based on our 2018 seasons sales.

Check back for updates as we expand this lovely business.

We look forward to growing with you.

- Dave & Keri
